Bed Bug Heat Treatment in Toledo

The county health department’s own handout says complete elimination “can be achieved through the services of a Certified Pest Management company.” This is what that service looks like when it is done properly: whole-home heat, probes in the cold spots, a follow-up inspection within the week, and a written record.

What we do

Whole-home heat

Every room past the egg kill point and held there, measured at the coldest probe, not the thermostat. One day. A residual dust in the voids after.

Chemical program

Where a single room was caught early or a building is treating in rounds. Non-pyrethroid products, encasements, and the second visit OSU says these jobs “often require.”

Follow-up, always

Virginia Tech’s heat guide: survivors are “very common,” so the company “needs to provide a follow-up inspection within a week.” Ours is booked before we leave.

Ohio law, in one paragraph

Ohio has no bed bug statute for rental housing; the only Ohio law that names bed bugs is the hotel bedding rule (ORC 3731.13). What governs an apartment is the general landlord-tenant chapter: the landlord must “comply with the requirements of all applicable building, housing, health, and safety codes” and “put and keep the premises in a fit and habitable condition” (ORC 5321.04(A)(1)–(2)); the tenant must “keep that part of the premises that he occupies and uses safe and sanitary” (5321.05(A)(1)). Who pays turns on cause, and cause is what an inspection documents. The statute, quoted →

Toledo is two phone numbers

Bed bug questions go to the Toledo-Lucas County Health Department’s Environmental Health Division; property-maintenance code enforcement is the City’s Code Compliance office. They are different agencies with different numbers, and the health department’s handouts are the only local bed bug guidance in print. Who handles what →
